IMEx June 2021 – Jazz Concert – The Tomasso Storace Quartet
with Dave Newton (piano),Alec Dankworth (bass) Chris Nichols (drums)
(Subject to Government restrictions)
Tomasso is probably Italy’s best jazz musician. Playing in a straightforward hard-bop style, particularly influenced by Charlie Parker, this band will appeal to all the modernists among our audience
Tommaso is now London based and has been living here for some years. During this time he has gained a very high reputation for dynamic performances of the highest quality and is now a much sought after performer throughout Europe
He has also toured in the US. He was at the Arts Centre four years ago and he gave us a superb performance comprising a broad mix of jazz, from lyrical ballads through to contemporary new compositions
The trio supporting him is probably the top piano/bass/drums trio in the UK. Dave Newton has won the IAC annual UK jazz award for piano more than a dozen times, as has Alec Dankworth.

2020 – THE “SWINGINGEST” LITTLE BAND IN THE LAND
THE DIME NOTES
Back again for a second visit after their massively successful gig at IAC two years ago. This band digs back into the blues-drenched sounds of clarinet-driven 1920’s New Orleans jazz, unearthing a repertoire of stomps, blues, and forgotten gems of the era.
Fronted by Chris Barber’s long-time clarinetist David Horniblow, an established figure on the London jazz scene and American pianist Andrew Oliver, over here on tour again.
The band is anchored by an unstoppable pulse from London’s finest rhythm guitarist Dave Kelbie, and the bass chair is occupied by native Londoner Tom Wheatley, in demand across many genre boundaries with his huge sound and stylistic versatility.
