Dillington House: Talk, “the Gothic Revival in the West Country 1836-1901”
October 10 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm£16
Mike Hope, author, lecturer, curator and designer lecturing more than twenty-five years and holding senior management posts in four Universities, gives the Sunday Lecture –
“The Gothic Revival in the West Country 1836-1901”
“From such great mansions as Knightshayes Court to Tyntesfield, from pumping stations to railway stations, the Gothic Revival can be seen to have spread its tentacles far and wide across the whole West Country region.
Such was the demand that besides the great national architects, many regional firms and family dynasties flourished. In this way a special regionality would appear and result in further creating a visual identity for the region.”
To attend the Lecture, £16/pp – includes tea and cake
Pre-book an early carvery lunch available £18 per person to enjoy before the lecture
