Dillington House – Learning, “Two Ways to Paint a Watercolour”
May 13 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
£60“Two Ways to Paint a Watercolour” ..with David Chandler
Where does the rainbow go when we try to put it onto the paper?
Why do all those lovely colours, that look so bright in our box, turn to mud the moment we set to work? And why are so many watercolours so wishy-washy?
In this practical, one-day course, we look briefly at the science behind the problem and with examples from the Tate’s watercolour collection, explore two different concepts that will help us gain control of our paintbox and put the colour back into our work.
David Chandler teaches art to adults in Bath and Frome and his online classes attract an international audience. He has lectured and demonstrated throughout the UK and led many painting courses across Europe.
He is a co-founder of Frome Community Education, a Black Swan Open Art Competition prize-winner and finalist of the Holburne Portrait Prize.
He wrote regularly for Future Publishing’s ‘Paint And Draw’ magazine and is the writer and presenter of Seeing Things, a visual arts program, for Frome FM.
His practical book, ‘Tate: Master Watercolour’ (Ilex Press), is available worldwide with editions in English, Spanish and Korean.
